This performance project invites you to join an interactive group experience throughout movement, sound and space. “According to Physics, the sound is an oscillation (a movement in space) made by particles (atoms and molecules) and generated by a music source “. The audience is all the time surrounded by a multitude of different sounds generating a never-ending vibrating movement of particles, which we are not able to see. Together with the live electronic music by the composer Giacomo Mattogno (Junction to Humanity), we investigate a possible representation of the sound’s physics and its propagation in the air, and we do it through a movement performance. A grid on the floor, associated with different sound parameters, suggest how to move around, what intensity, what speed, what dynamics and qualities. Taking actively part in the artistic research and in the creation process, from the abstract to the practical level, you get the chance to approach your own body language: a sensory approach, working with sounds, images, drawings, individual group exercises. Movement and musical tasks are used as a shared vocabulary; we explore themes such as dancing in a group, dancing as a couple, listening to sounds in the dark, generating sounds through dancing, questioning the emotional impact , influencing the movement through the sound. The live music, besides improving the individual musical skills, becomes a fundamental element for the analysis of the sound’s physics. Three keywords in this project: movement, sound, playground.
Live Music: Giacomo Mattogno
Enrico Paglialunga is a Berlin based freelance dancer, teacher and choreographer. He got his dance education in Rome and New York, he worked and cooperated with Enzo Celli (IT), Marko Weigert & Dan Pelleg (DE), Brice Mousset(USA), Eun Hwa Nary Shin (USA), Sonia Rodriguez (DE) and Sommer Ulrikson (DE), Theater Strahl Berlin, DeDanser (NL) and the theater director/choreographer Helena Waldmann. Before entering the freelance scene, he played for “Wee Dance Company” at the Gerhart Hauptmann Theater in Görlitz. As Choreographer, he created the piece “A New Beginning” for 6 dancers (“Kurzstrecke” production | Wee dance company -DE) and "A step towards", a solo that recently won the 1st Prize at the Choreographic Competition Nowa Huta Kultury Center of Krakòw. In March 2017 Enrico was Guest Choreographer at the National Dance Company of Rome, and produced the dance piece “Pantarei” for the students of the Contemporary Dance Department. Enrico has been invited to train pupils at Tanzfabrik & Dock 11 Berlin, TanzKompanie des Landesbühnen Sachsen- Carlos Matos, WeeDance company Gh-Theater, Profitraining Leipzig LOFFT Theater and more… He is currently attending a Bachelor in DanceMovement Therapy at Arte.do/University of Salento (IT).
Giacomo Mattogno is an Italian composer, musician, and producer: he is a skilled electronic musician. Trained at the St. Louis Academy in Rome, he moved to Berlin where he founded his project, Junction to Humanity; due to its international education, this project has united different cultures, suggestions and musical models from the US, Germany, and Italy. Giacomo is also the founder of Nordpathrecords: in his works he combines organic and electronic music, building an atmosphere of noises and sounds evoking irregular elements, thus capturing different moods of the listener.
